Working meeting between the President of the European Investment Bank Nadia Calviño and Finance Minister Magnus Brunner
On 12 September 2024, a high-level working meeting between the President of the European Investment Bank Nadia Calviño and Finance Minister Magnus Brunner on the role of the European Investment Bank (EIB) took place at the Austrian Ministry of Finance. The focus was on the EIB's financing activities in 2023 and the strategic direction for the coming years.
In 2023, the EIB Directorate provided 1.26 billion euros for projects in Austria. This was used to finance new affordable housing, broadband expansion, research and development and wind farms, among other things.
Finance Minister Magnus Brunner emphasised: "The EIB makes an important contribution with its support for forward-looking projects in sectors such as renewable energy, affordable housing and the promotion of SMEs in Austria. Especially through its contribution in the sectors of research and development and future technology, it contributes to the competitiveness and sustainability of the Austrian and European economy and thus ensures long-term growth."
