Taxation

The government needs revenues in order to fulfil its responsibilities. It collects taxes, fees and other charges for this purpose. Under the laws adopted by Parliament, all Austrian citizens must contribute their share of funding for government services, even if they do not directly enjoy or want to enjoy the benefits of these services themselves.

The tax administration is responsible for collecting the taxes and fees set down in Austrian federal law and for issuing family allowances and refunds. Based on the principal of equal treatment of taxpayers, we ensure that the conditions for fair business competition exist and provide assistance with tax matters to Austrian citizens as well as companies.
