Debt Management The Austrian Treasury
The Austrian Treasury is the debt management office of the Republic of Austria and acts in the name and for the account of the sovereign. Established in 1993, the Austrian Treasury is wholly owned by the Republic of Austria, represented by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Responsibilities include issuing Austrian government debt and managing the central government debt portfolio. The Austrian Treasury also acts as central liquidity manager of the Republic of Austria.
Upon the request of the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Austrian Treasury may perform financial and consulting activities for Austrian provinces, quasi-governmental and other legal entities of the Republic of Austria with the aim of exploiting synergies.
The primary objective is to secure the government’s funding at all times and at the lowest possible cost over the medium to long term while avoiding excessive risk.
