Brunner: Ministry of Finance launches information campaign on relief measures for 2024

Updated relief calculator shows personal savings through the abolition of cold progression

In the coming year, people will also benefit from the relief measures introduced by the Federal Government. Thanks above all to the abolition of cold progression, your pay slip will say "more net from gross" from January. For example, if you paid tax on an income of EUR 11,693 or more in 2023, the threshold for taxable income will only be EUR 12,816 from 1.1.2024. However, other relief measures will also give people more financial room for manoeuvre: The final stage of the tax cuts as part of the eco-social tax reform is being implemented. The Ministry of Finance is therefore launching an information campaign at the beginning of January under the slogan "Say hello to: More for families and more wage for performance".

"The Austrian Federal Government has taken numerous measures to strengthen purchasing power and thus cushion the impact of inflation. On the one hand, these were quick and one-off support payments, but also structural measures such as the abolition of cold progression. Our aim with this information campaign is to make people aware of the various tax relief measures such as the abolition of cold progression, the increase in the additional child allowance, the extension of the home office regulation and the increase in the monthly tax allowance for overtime bonuses. The aim is to create a positive mood and confidence that will encourage investment and boost consumption," said Finance Minister Magnus Brunner.

With the relief calculator from the Ministry of Finance www.bmf.gv.at/entlastungsrechner, everyone can calculate their personal relief. In addition, an information page has been set up at bmf.gv.at/entlastungen2024, where the individual measures are clearly presented and examples give a feeling for the actual relief.

The information campaign starts at the beginning of January 2024 and runs until mid-February. The primary target groups are families and the working population, as they benefit most from the measures. The campaign will be present online, in print and on the radio as well as in outdoor advertising. This media mix ensures that mobile target groups are also well reached and informed about the measures.
